Microreactor

microreactor2

Corning's material and process innovation expertise is being applied toward the development of micro-reactor technology for the chemical processing industry.

Current batch processing technologies require that chemistry be adapted to the existing equipment based on a number of variables including:

  • Material properties (including density, viscosity, toxicity, corrosiveness)
  • Operating conditions (temperature, pressure, volume, flow)

These process adjustments affect the overall product yield and quality, and can result in significant manufacturing delays, increased operating costs, and ultimately result in lower profits. Corning has developed a proprietary continuous micro-reactor processing technology that is compact, adaptable and scalable, optimizing the cost of manufacturing and overall quality of high-value specialty, fine, and pharmaceutical chemicals.
