Corning Cable Systems, part of Corning’s telecommunications segment, is a leading manufacturer of fiber optic communications system solutions for voice, data and video network applications worldwide.

We offer the broadest range of end-to-end fiber optic and copper product solutions for customers' telecommunications networks. We put companies at the forefront of network innovation, pioneering many of the global products and solutions commonly used in state-of-the-art cabling systems.

Corning Cable Systems develops and manufactures fiber optic and copper cable hardware and equipment including frames, cabinets, terminals, network interface devices, splice and test equipment, cable assemblies and fiber optic and copper connectors; as well as providing network services worldwide. Corning Cable Systems Evolant® Solutions is a comprehensive offering of tip-to-tip products and services including the most advanced suite of optical fiber technologies, photonic components and optical networking devices available. The latest addition, ClearCurve™ solutions, incorporates revolutionary nanoStructures™ technology to offer a bend insensitive solution for MDU applications. Integrated CAD and flexible manufacturing processes deliver innovative, turnkey solutions in collaborative partnerships with our OEM customers. Backed by award-winning customer service, engineering services and technical support, Evolant Solutions enable network service providers to quickly and cost-effectively deploy fiber to the home and business.

Enterprise Networks
Corning Cable Systems LANscape® Solutions is a complete offering of optical fiber and shielded copper products and services optimized to enable easy, cost-effective upgrades, supporting the growing bandwidth requirements of local area networks and data centers. LANscape Solutions is designed for building-to-building, floor-to-floor, single floor or fiber-to-the-desk cable applications in business, manufacturing, hospital, university, financial, security, industrial and federal environments.


Important Milestones

  • 1977 – Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) and Siemens AG establish equity venture Siecor Corporation
  • 1978 – Develop loose tube fiber optic cable design; manufacture and install first optical fiber cable
  • 1983 – Install first single-mode cable for commercial telephone traffic in the U.S
    – Develop and manufacture first Network Interface Devices for commercial use in U.S.
  • 1986 – Pioneer the development of prestubbed optical hardware;
    – Become the first non-Japanese fiber optic cable manufacturer to sell commercially in Japan
  • 1989 – Develop first true field-installable connectors with innovative UniCam® Connector technology
  • 1996 – Introduce LANscape® Solutions for Enterprise Networks fiber optic applications
    – Introduce loose tube fiber optic cable with state-of-the-art waterblocking technology for outside plant applications
  • 2000 – Corning Incorporated purchases Siemens’ interest in Siecor Corporation as well as Siemens’ global telecommunications businesses. The expertise and capabilities of these businesses and Corning Cables (formerly BICC) are combined to form Corning Cable Systems, the world’s leading telecommunications manufacturer
  • 2002 – Introduce Evolant® Solutions for metropolitan and access networks;
    – Introduce the first field-installable, no-epoxy/no-polish 12-fiber connector (UniCam® MTP® Connector)
  • 2004 – Introduce leading product family of gel-free outdoor ribbon cables
    – Introduce the OptiTap™ connector and adapter, a U.S. standard in outside plant-hardened connectors for FTTx deployments
    – Introduce LANscape Pretium™ Solutions
  • 2007 – Develop revolutionary ClearCurve™  product solution, offering a bend-insensitive solution for Multi-Dwelling Unit deployments
