Corning’s Diversity Network encourages employees to “unmask their potential”
Nearly 150 Corning employees gathered in Sullivan Park’s Innovation Hall early this year at the company Diversity Network’s “Unmask Your Potential” event. The event gave employees a chance to network with one another and share their cultures as well as learn more about the Diversity Network’s various affinity groups and organizations.
Corning CEO Wendell Weeks spoke to employees at the event, explaining that diversity will have an important role to play as the company works its way through the global recession. He said, “Today, diversity is ingrained in Corning’s culture. We understand that we are enriched by different ideas, experiences, and perspectives.”
Groups like the Women’s Quality Improvement Team, the Corning Professionals Network, the Southern Tier Indian Culture Association (STICA), the Corning Chinese Association, the Corning Professional Women’s Forum, the Society of Black Professionals, and the other affinity groups give employees of different backgrounds a ready-made support system to help them make the most of their experience at Corning.
Corning values the unique ability of each individual to contribute, and intends that every employee shall have the opportunity to participate fully, to grow professionally, and to develop to his or her highest potential.
