Diversity event recognizes cultural backgrounds of Corning employees
As a global company, Corning Incorporated truly prides itself on the diversity of its workforce. This attitude was in full display at the company’s annual Ethnic Diversity Group of Employees (EDGE) Diversity celebration held this spring. Employees from all different backgrounds gathered at Corning’s Sullivan Park R&D Center to celebrate the culturally diverse workforce that fuels the company’s innovative spirit.
Chairman and CEO Wendell Weeks spoke at the event, recognizing EDGE and Corning’s commitment to cultural variety. “[Diversity] goes beyond the standard business case. It is essential to Corning because of our unique identity as a company that grows through global innovation. Successful innovation depends upon diversity of ideas, experience and perspective.” The event also reflected Corning's core Value of "The Individual."
The event, themed “Passport to the World” included festivities such as food, crafts, dance and costumes from around the world. Performances ranged from a traditional Chinese celebration dance to Argentine folk music.
