Supporting diabetes and cancer research
August 2007
Corning employees from Corning, N.Y. locations are taking part in events and fundraisers to supporting diabetes and cancer research. In late July, dozens of employees and other members of the community gathered at Keuka Lake for the third annual Tour de Keuka to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Out of the 58 participants, 36 were Corning employees – including the event coordinator, a member of Corning’s Display Technologies division. With generous donations from family, friends and co-workers, this year’s Tour de Keuka participants raised a record-breaking $12,000.
Corning employees also recently took part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life. Twenty-two Corning employees worked together to raise more than $11,500 for the organization, holding a pasta dinner and selling an array of products ranging from raffle tickets to baked goods.
The Relay for Life is an annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, held in communities across the world. Corning employees have participated in this event for nearly six years.
